On 9th February, a festival atmosphere lapped over the Chinese embassy in Holland. A special reception organized by Ambassador Mr. Zhang Jun with his wife was held for all overseas Chinese including Chinese business people, international staff from China, and overseas students, altogether 350 people. Chinese director of Confucius Institute the Hague Ms. Zhou Jiazhuan and Chinese teacher Mr. Zhang Zhe who has just arrived in Holland also attended the reception upon invitation.
Mr. Zhang first addressed all the guests, expressing his new year wishes to them. He recalled the 60 years’ ups and downs of our motherland, and the last 30 years’ achievements, and day-by-day changes after reforming and opening to the outside. He points out that in the global financial crisis, Chinese government actively took effective measures to counteract its passive impacts, and first realized recovery of the economy, which contributes much to world economy. Chinese has comprehensively enhanced its international influence, charisma and affinity. The year 2009 is, for China, a year that should be written into the annals of history and a year of special meaning. All Chinese are proud of the renewal of our nation and the fast development of our country.
Mr. Zhang also thanked the Chinese business people, international staff from China, overseas students and highly recognized their contributions to the development of our motherland, spreading Chinese culture and increasing Sino-Holland friendly relationship. He specially thanked and expressed his respects for the Chinese educators in Holland. He hoped that all overseas Chinese could make continuous contributions in new situations to promote Sino-Holland relations; and the embassy is sure to provide better service for them. Representatives of Chinese business people, international staff from China and overseas students delivered speeches on the reception as well, all of whom expressed their pride as a Chinese when mentioning our motherland’s achievements and the success in hold 2008 Olympic Games. Whenever it is and wherever we are, our hearts are always together with our motherland; we will unite and strive together to do our own parts for her.
